Ben Phiri buys Lulu’s CD at auction

Lulu is one blessed artists Malawi has ever had. So apart from the fact that he filled the BICC to the brim like no other artists ever has, he also made quite a fortune at the CD auction. Ben Phiri who is a Member of parliament and also Minister responsible for Local Government was the highest bidder at the CD auction buying it at an amount which he refused to disclose.

When pressed to disclose the amount, Phiri simply said it will be a generous amount.

After all is said and done, Lawrence Khwisa famously known as Lulu Saturday night gave his all as he launched his new album dubbed ‘Better in your arms’.

The album has been cemented with 12 tracks including

hits of the moment ‘Better in your arms’ and ‘Hannah’ which Lulu featured Zambian B1.

At exactly 9pm the auditorium of the magnificent Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) is almost full already waiting for the man of the moment.

Glittering stage was warmed up with wowing performances from among others Kell Kay and the self-proclaimed jamming machine, Skeffa Chimoto.

Lulu jumped on the stage around 10-11pm. His performance started with old songs before serving the audience with some songs in the latest album.

Lulu’s performance was cut short for his CD’s auction which was manned by the two craziest local stars, Symon and Kendal.

Last performance of the night was from Zambian artist of the moment B1 who got all fans dancing with his hit ‘ kwa George’ with a dub.

Speaking at the event Lulu hailed patrons gesture of supporting the launch.

“Am real delighted with support that you have rendered on me during the launch.

“Let me also thank my family for always being there for me. With the album launch been done now the album is now available at the market”, he explained.
